Accreditation

Society of Actuaries Center of Actuarial Excellence (CAE)

Our programme is recognised by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) as a Center of Actuarial Excellence (CAE). This is the highest level of recognition awarded by the SOA to actuarial programmes worldwide. Only a select group of leading universities have achieved this distinction, reflecting excellence in curriculum design, faculty qualifications, research, industry engagement, and graduate outcomes. We are among the first batch of universities in Asia to receive this prestigious recognition.

For students aspiring to become actuaries, studying in an SOA-accredited CAE programme provides assurance that the curriculum is aligned with international professional standards and designed to support success in the actuarial qualification pathway.

University-Earned Credit (UEC): Accelerate Your Actuarial Qualification Journey

In August 2022, we were selected as one of the inaugural 13 universities worldwide recognised by the Society of Actuaries under the University-Earned Credit (UEC) Program.

This program enables eligible students to earn credit for selected SOA preliminary examinations through approved university courses, subject to meeting the required performance standards set by the SOA. This provides a unique opportunity for students to progress towards professional qualification while completing their undergraduate studies.

Through the UEC arrangement, qualified students may obtain SOA exam credits for the following examinations:

SOA ExamIFAA Course
FM FINA2200 Introduction to Actuarial Science
SRM FINA3290 Linear Models for Actuaries
FINA3295 Advanced Statistical Modeling for Insurance and Finance
FAM FINA3221 Basic Long-term Actuarial Mathematics
FINA3222 Basic Short-term Actuarial Mathematics
ALTAM FINA4211 Advanced Long-term Actuarial Mathematics
ASTAM FINA4221 Advanced Short-term Actuarial Mathematics

Why UEC Matters

The UEC arrangement offers significant advantages to students:

  • Earn credits for selected SOA examinations while completing university studies
  • Reduce the number of external professional exams required after graduation
  • Save exam preparation time and related costs
  • Accelerate progress towards professional credentials
  • Enhance employability by entering the job market with recognised professional credits

The combination of CAE recognition and UEC eligibility places IFAA among a small number of actuarial programmes globally that offer students a direct and efficient pathway towards actuarial qualification.
